The Double Burden of Malnutrition:
Are Ugandans eating their way into health trouble?
What: Malnutrition increasingly is a problem that affects not just the rural poor but also wealthier, urban people as well. A panel of experts will examine the unhealthy trends in Ugandans’ eating habits and explore what can be done to improve the situation.

Who: Dr. Robert Mwadime, Regional Senior Nutrition Advisor to the Food and Nutrition Technical Assistance Project (FANTA-2): Uganda ’s nutrition challenges. Dr. Mwadime has more than 20 years experience in academia, national and international development.

Dr Geoffrey K. Bisoborwa, Country Advisor – Child and Adolescent Health and Nutrition, World Health Organization. Dr. Bisoborwa provides technical assistance to the Ministry of Health in planning, monitoring and evaluating child health and nutrition programs.
Dr. Grace Nambatya Kyeyune, Director of Research, Ministry of Health. A chemist, Dr. Kyeyune is an expert on traditional medicine. She is writing a book about traditional foods and health.
Yusuf B. Byaruhanga, PhD, Department of Food Science & Technology Makerere University. Dr. Byaruhanga has wide experience in food product development, quality assurance and nutrition education. He is currently working on ways to improve the nutritional quality and value addition to locally available cereal foods.
Ms. Nelly Birungi, a Nutrition Officer with UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund. Nelly has professional experience in management of acute malnutrition, infant and young child feeding, nutrition policy and guidelines formulation and capacity building.
